The Top Team
Yet to capture a win after seven matches since the start of the season, Omiya Ardija’s struggling top team played Gamba Osaka in Match 8, adding another devastating 0-6 loss. They celebrated their first win of the season with a 1-0 score in Match 9 against their Saitama rival, Urawa Reds. Though defeated 0-1 by Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo in Match 10, they beat Vegalta Sendai 2-1 in the next match and moved up from the bottom of the J1 League standings, only to drop to the bottom again after a 0-3 loss to Cerezo Osaka in Match 12.
The top team also played in the 2017 J.League YBC Levain Cup, which kicked off on April 12. After four matches and a record of 2 losses, 2 ties and no wins, Omiya Ardija’s hope to advance to the final stage has faded away.
Atsushi Kurokawa of the top team was selected to participate in the May 9-13 training camp organized for the U-20 Japan National Team candidates. Kurokawa has also been picked as a member of the U-19 Japan National Team that will take part in the 45th Toulon Tournament.

Development
The Omiya Ardija youth team playing in the Prince Takamado Trophy U-18 Football League 2017 Premier League East lost to defending champion Aomori Yamada High School (0-3) and to F.C. Tokyo U-18 (0-3) in Match 3 and 4 respectively. Their first victory of the season came just like the top team – defeating their local rival Urawa Youth 2-0.
After finishing Match 12 in the 2017 Kanto Youth (U-15) Soccer League, the Omiya Ardija junior youth team stands in second place with 7 wins, 4 losses and 1 tie, and is determined to replace the Kashima Antlers junior youth team in the top position.
The junior team played in the Kanto Youth Soccer Tournament, winning their first match and the match for the representing club title.
