The Top Team
Omiya Ardija’s top team went up against Vissel Kobe in Match 19 of the Meiji Yasuda J1 League. FW Marcelo Toscano scored his first goal since transferring to the team, but Omiya conceded 2 goals to Kobe’s Lukas Podolski and lost with a final score of 1-3. Match 20 was the “Saitama derby”, and MF Yusuke Segawa’s dramatic goal moments before the whistle tied the score with Urawa Reds 2-2. Omiya’s opponent in Match 21 was F.C. Tokyo. MF Cauê scored his first goal for Omiya, but the team was defeated 1-2. Without a win in five matches, Omiya played Albirex Niigata in Match 22 and gained three points with a 1-0 victory, thanks to MF Ataru Esaka’s winning goal. Omiya was defeated 0-3 by Sagan Tosu in Match 23, and stands at 16th place with 5 wins, 14 losses, and 4 ties.
During the summer transfer season, FW Nejc Pecnik transferred to Tochigi SC and DF Keigo Numata to Zweigen Kanazawa.

Meanwhile, Omiya Ardija’s junior youth team played Match 16 of the 2017 Kanto Youth (U-15) Soccer League against Yokohama F・Marinos Jr. Youth Oppama and drew 1-1. They were defeated 0-2 in Match 17 to Yokohama F・Marinos Jr. Youth, and is at 6th place among 12 teams with 7 wins, 6 losses, and 3 ties.
The junior youth team also participated in the 32nd Japan Club Youth (U-15) Football Championship that kicked off on August 15. They cleared the group stage with 2 wins and 1 loss, and went on to defeat the Sakado Diplomats 1-0 in the Round of 32, and shut out Cerezo Osaka West U-15 with a 4-0 score in the Round of 16. They played the Urawa Reds Junior Youth in the quarterfinal match and lost 1-2, unable to advance to the semifinals.
Match 6 of the 2017 Kanto Youth (U-13) Soccer League took place on August 6, and Omiya Ardija’s junior youth team gained a 2-1 victory from the Mitsubishi Yowa SC Sugamo Jr. Youth. After playing 6 matches, they are at the top of Division 1B with 5 wins and 1 tie.
FW Kanji Okunuki of the youth team was selected to the U-18 Japan National Team, which will take part in the 2017 SBS Cup International Youth Soccer competition.
DF Keita Fukui of the junior youth team was picked to participate in the U-15 J.League All-Star Brazil Training Camp, while MF Ryoudai Hasebe was named to join the U-13 J.League All-Star China Training Camp.

The “10th Omiya Ardija Orange! Happy!! Smile Cup!!! presented by NTT docomo” was held at NACK5 Stadium Omiya on July 29, July 30 and August 13. 20 teams with about 500 players and staff gathered from all corners of Saitama Prefecture to take part in the event. Team Sakura captured the title for the fifth year in a row.
To support the health of all the community citizens, Omiya Ardija teamed up with Saitama City’s Iwatsuki Ward Community Department to organize a “Walking Lesson” on July 23 and a “Stretching Exercise for Seniors” given by CENTRAL SPORTS CO.,LTD. on July 25.
Club mascot Ardy participated in various summer festivals all around Omiya again this year to liven up the atmosphere, starting with the “26th Nakayama Miyahara Festival 2017” on Sunday, July 16.
