The Top Team
Omiya Ardija’s top team played Roasso Kumamoto in Match 5 of the season. Omiya scored the match opener with a goal by DF Kosuke Kikuchi but lost the match with a 1-2 score. Omiya played Match 6 at home against Avispa Fukuoka. With a goal by FW Robin Šimović and one by FW Genki Omae, they gained the second win of the season with a 2-1 finish. In the next two away matches which they hoped to win consecutively to gain momentum, Omiya lost Match 7 to Matsumoto Yamaga FC and Match 8 to Renofa Yamaguchi FC, both with a one-goal difference. In the Match 9 home game against Fagiano Okayama, Omae scored with a header early in the first half, but Okayama evened the score in the second half and the match ended in a 1-1 draw. After playing nine matches in the season, Omiya is ranked 19th with 2 wins, 5 losses and 2 ties.

Development
The Prince Takamado Trophy JFA U-18 Football Prince League 2018 Kanto kicked off, and Omiya’s youth team shut out Kiryu Daiichi High School in Match 1 with a 5-0 score. In Match 2, they were defeated 0-1 by Yaita Chuo High School.

Omiya’s junior youth team participating in the Kanto Youth Soccer League played Yokohama F.Marinos Jr. Youth in Match 4, losing 0-4. They defeated Musashino City FC 1-0 in Match 5, but lost the next two matches in a row, Match 6 against Kashima Antlers Tsukuba and Match 7 against Kashima Antlers Norte.

Meanwhile, Omiya’s junior team took part in the 2018 U-12 Junior Soccer World Challenge J. Club Preliminary Competition. They won 3-2 against Ventforet Kofu U-12 and captured a 1-0 victory against Thespakusatsu Gunma U-12, and qualified for the final competition.

The “6th SaitaMarch Minuma Two-Day Walk” was organized on March 25. Omiya’s club mascot Ardy took part in the ceremony to kick off the event, and sent off the participants with a big cheer. An area of NACK5 Stadium Omiya was used as part of the walking course for the event. Saitama City Mayor Hayato Shimizu, who is also the president of Omiya Ardija’s supporters club, dropped in and encouraged the team before the match against Avispa Fukuoka held later in the day.

The first “For the Future with Omiya Ardija” cafe took place on March 18. Omiya Ardija and 27 fans and supporters exchanged ideas to discuss what they can do together for the 20th anniversary event. The second session, featuring the theme on match operation, merchandising, and fan service, will be held on April 29 at NACK5 Stadium Omiya.

Omiya Ardija’s role as an ambassador for Saitama’s tourism was renewed for another two-tear period. The club will use every opportunity they may have to promote Saitama City and participate in various events and activities hosted by the city. The renewed period will take effect from April 1, 2018, to March 31, 2020.

On March 29, Omiya Ardija was appointed ambassador to promote traffic safety in Saitama City. This will be the club’s fourth time to fulfill the role. Kazuhiro Saito, superintendent of the Saitama Nishi Police Department, and Akira Okamura, mayor of Saitama City’s West Ward, awarded Omiya Ardija with the appointment. Club Ambassador Taishi Tsukamoto represented Omiya Ardija to participate in the April 3 ceremony to officially open the traffic safety promotional activities for the spring of 2018.
