The Top Team
GK Filip Kljajic ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee during Match 13 of the Meiji Yasuda J2 League played on May 9 against Thespakusatsu Gunma. He will be out of action for eight months, and left the country to have surgery. Ardija made an announcement on May 25 that the have discharged Head Coach Ken Iwase and Head of Football Tetsuya Nishiwaki because of the team’s poor performance. Under Head Coach Iwase, the team only had 2 victories across 15 matches—a big disappointment to the fans and supporters. Norio Sasaki, Total Advisor, will tentatively take charge until the new head coach is appointed.

Women’s Team
Aya Sameshima of Omiya Ardija Ventus participated in the Nadeshiko Japan (the women’s national team) training camp that took place from May 11 – 17 at the National Training Center J-Village in Fukushima Prefecture. The training camp for the U-19 women’s national team candidates also took place at J-Village from May 16 – 20, and Mihoshi Sugisawa was invited to take part.
The 2021 WE League pre-season match was played at home on May 8 against Sanfrecce Hiroshima Regina, and Omiya Aridja Ventus lost 0-1. Another pre-season match was played on May 22, and Omiya was defeated again 0-4 by Nippon TV Beleza.

On May 14, Toshihiro Wakui and Keitaro Kaimoto of the Omiya Ardija U18 team were registered with the top team. They will be registered with the Class 2 team (Omiya Ardija U18) but have been approved to play in official J.League matches. The two players have not signed a professional player contract yet.
Meanwhile, Rin Yamazaki and Haruki Ozawa of Ardija’s U18 team were selected as candidates for the Japan U-18 national team and they participated in the training camp which was held at J-Village from May 5 – 9. Rion Ichihara, also from Ardija’s U18 team, and Mark Isozaki of the Ardija U15 team were chosen to take part in the training camp for the Japan U-16 national team candidates held from May 10 to 13 at Tokinosumika Sports Center in Shizuoka Prefecture.

From May 25, Omiya Ardija commenced the “resale service” to resell season tickets and single day tickets that were already purchased by ticketholders. The service allows the resale of tickets for matches that ticketholders can no longer attend through Ardija’s official online ticket reservation and purchase service.
